With the continuous development of science and technology in the society, people's living standard is also improving. The popularization of electronic products such as cell phones, computers, automobiles, smart watches, etc. has increased the demand for test probes.
Probe is the contact medium of electric test, which belongs to high-end precision type electronic hardware components. It is used in various fields, including medical, aerospace, biological, and computer. The materials and prices used for different types of probes vary. Common materials used for probes include beryllium copper, phosphorus copper, brass, SK4, and more. Today, we will focus on why the surface of probes need to be gold plated.
Simply put, the purpose of gold plating is to prevent copper from rusting. Once copper rusts, it produces a copper green color, which can increase resistance, thus affecting the stability and functionality of the probe.
The benefits of gold plating for test probes are as follows:
1. The gold-plated layer has good ductility, easy polishability and high temperature resistance, as well as excellent resistance to discoloration. Gold plating on the silver layer can prevent silver tarnishing; gold alloy plating can show a variety of shades, so it is often used in decorative plating, such as plating jewelry, watch parts, artwork, etc..
2. Gold-plated layer has low contact resistance, good electrical conductivity, easy to weld, strong corrosion resistance, and a certain degree of wear resistance (refers to hard gold). Therefore, it has a wide range of applications in precision instrumentation, printed circuit boards, integrated circuits, tube casings, electrical contacts and so on.
In short, the gold plating treatment on the surface of the probe can improve its stability, use function and durability. Through gold plating treatment, the probes can better meet the needs of various applications and provide a reliable contact medium for electrical testing.

Are DNA probes identical in function to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)?
A significant majority of the diagnostic tests employing PCR technology demonstrated heightened sensitivity in comparison to DNA probe-based assays. The progression towards the creation of PCR-based diagnostic methodologies necessitates a meticulous process that initiates with the careful selection of oligonucleotide primers and reporter probes, followed by a series of intricate steps.
What is the process of probe creation?
Synthesis of cDNA Probes for Molecular Genetic Studies
A tailored cDNA probe can be derived from a precise mRNA molecule. This mRNA, which serves as the blueprint for a specific protein, functions as the foundational template. Employing the enzymatic activities of reverse transcriptase and DNA polymerase, a complementary DNA (cDNA) is synthesized, which then serves as a probing tool capable of selectively pairing with a designated gene sequence (Refer to Figure 10.45 for visual representation).
What are the dimensions of probe cards?
Accuprobe maintains an extensive inventory of 4 1/2" rectangular probe cards that adhere to industry norms, catering to diverse applications such as thick and thin film technology, semiconductor processing, optics, MEMS, and associated fields. These cards feature a range of edge or cable connectors, spanning from 48 to 160 pins, and offer compatibility with rotation centers varying from compact (3.4") to XXL sizes (6.65").
