Vacuum casting, or vacuum-forming, is a process of creating a three-dimensional object with an outer surface by using a mold. In this process, a mold cavity is created by the removal of air from the inside of the mold and then subjected to pressure lower than atmospheric pressure outside the mold. In another process called pressure casting, this occurs when some or all of the air has been evacuated from a closed mold cavity.
